Harvest Moon Highpoints

Mighty Patricia may have hampered the Harvest Moon Regatta® race. But she couldn't stop the party!

Over 350 die-hards braved the wind and rain for what turned out to be another Bacardi Rum Party for the books. Completely undaunted by the weather conditions, nine sailors actually boated down in 40mph winds for the event. Not even the 10-ft swells could keep party-goers away. Whether chartering a boat or sailing a private vessel, Lakewood members proudly celebrated the Harvest Moon Regatta® tradition.

Countless volunteers worked behind the scenes to make this year's festivities a top-notch event. From hauling trailers full of rum and set-ups, to loading bottomless bags of ice, to community fundraising, Lakewood volunteers went above and beyond to put on a premier celebration this year.

The rum flowed freely and the food exceeded our highest expectations. Party-goers got to enjoy smoked turkey and Texas brisket trimmed with down-home slaw and potato salad. And just in case participants got a sweet tooth along the way, the pecan pie and pumpkin pie couldn't have been better.

Jerry Diaz and Hannah's Reef rocked the weekend out with cover tunes from the Beetles and the Beach Boys. And who says Lakewood members don't dance in the rain? Partiers raised the roof to all the greatest hits and the hottest Jamaican steele drums on the coast.

Port Aransas oozed with exceptional local flavor and hospitality. Cozy condos and comfy restaurants afforded ideal vantage points for down-time. Whether visitors looked for an afternoon respite or the perfect spot while Patricia make landfall, Port A came through as always.

We're glad to see so many in the community enjoy another heralded Lakewood tradition and look forward to the Harvest Moon Regatta® in 2016!
