Lakewood Receives Three New Burgees

At the August board meeting, a burgee presentation was held where three different yacht club burgees were given to Lakewood Yacht Club. First, Katie McGagh presented two burgees to the LYC Board, one from Stamford Yacht Club and another from Bristol Yacht Club. In July, Katie sailed at the U.S.  Sailing Junior Women’s Singlehanded Championships in Stamford, Connecticut. While she was there, SYC Commodore Gurney presented the SYC burgee to her at the closing ceremony. Then, while vacationing with her family in Rhode Island, Katie raced in the Thursday Night Races at Bristol Yacht Club, where she acquired one of their burgees to bring back to LYC. Later in the meeting, Sue and Frank Clements gave LYC a burgee from Carter Lake Sailing Club, a club located near Loveland, Colorado, where Frank used to be Commodore. Commodore Walker then gave the Clements a LYC burgee that they’ve mailed off to Carter Lake Sailing Club. Keep an eye out for the new burgees on display in the LYC Bar!

Update: It's been a few weeks since mailing off the Club's burgee to Carter Lake Yacht Club. They presented it to their Club and said their members were very interested in our Club's 60 + year history.
