Set sail for an unforgettable summer of adventure! Our camps offer much more than just sailing lessons—they provide the perfect blend of learning, fun, and outdoor exploration. Whether you’re new to sailing or a seasoned sailor, you’ll enjoy expert instruction, exciting water sports, creative arts and crafts, and activities designed to promote teamwork, communication, and confidence.

The Sailing Pathway at Lakewood Yacht Club

Lakewood Yacht Club’s Summer Sailing Camps are more than just a fun introduction to sailing—they’re the first step on an exciting journey into the world of high-performance racing. For those who fall in love with the sport, our programs pave the way for advanced training, competitive racing, and lifelong adventures on the water.

Our sailing pathway is designed to make the sport more accessible, engaging, and inclusive for young sailors. Starting with foundational camps like Optimist and Seahorse, participants can progress to advanced programs, and regional regattas, and eventually join high-performance racing teams.

Through expert coaching, structured development programs, and a supportive community, we ensure that every sailor—whether recreational or competitive—has the opportunity to grow and succeed.

At Lakewood, we’re not just teaching sailing; we’re building the future of the sport.

2025 Camp Dates

Optimist Camp: June 09 – 13, 2025 | Grades 2–5 (Ages 7–10)

Seahorse Camp: June 16 – 20, 2025 | Grades 6–11 (Ages 11–16)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM

What to Bring
Swimsuit, rash guard & shorts
Buff/gaiter to provide sun protection
Water shoes that stay attached to the feet – no flip-flops!
Coast Guard approved life jacket with whistle attached
Sunglasses
Hat
Towel
Sunscreen
Dry bag (Waterproof bag)
Refillable water bottle (Water and Gatorade will be provided)
Optional – Change of clothes
* Please label all personal items. 

Highlights
Learn sailing basics, boat handling, and trimming techniques.
Enjoy water sports, teamwork activities, and outdoor fun.
Optimist boats for younger sailors, and FJs for older participants.

Safety & Swim Test
Safety is our priority. Campers must wear life jackets on the water and pass a swim test (life jacket assistance allowed).

After completing the Optimist and Seahorse Camps, campers can continue their sailing journey with our advanced programs. Participants will have the opportunity to join our development programs where our experienced coaches will assess their skills and guide them to the next level.
