They'll delve into the intricacies of sailing, mastering techniques like trimming at different points of sail and rigging / unrigging boats. But more than that, they'll immerse themselves in the exhilarating sensation of riding the waves. Our goal is not only to teach sailing but to instill a passion for the sport that will become a cornerstone of their lives. Through sailing, campers will discover the joy of exploration, the importance of teamwork, and the satisfaction of personal improvement.

At Lakewood Yacht Club, safety is our top priority. All sailors will be required to wear buoyancy aids at all times while on the water. Our private sailing facility is fully sheltered and closed to outside entrance, and our team is well-prepared with comprehensive risk analysis and emergency plans to ensure a secure environment for all participants.
All campers must pass a swim test, even if they have done so in a previous year. We have lifeguards available to give the test. If you feel your child might need a life jacket for assistance during the swim test this is allowed, so please have it available if needed. Please be advised, children who need their life jacket to pass the swim test will be required to wear their life jacket during all pool related activities.
After completing the Optimist and Seahorse Camps, campers can continue their sailing journey with our advanced programs. Participants will have the opportunity to join our development programs where our experienced coaches will assess their skills and guide them to the next level.
